Nick has sourced coffee on farms across Central America, South America, and Africa. He has personal relationships with producers who have gone on to win Cup of Excellence awards, and has traveled with buyers from Blue Bottle Coffee on sourcing trips to El Salvador and Costa Rica.

Product Description
Mobile App
The Siip Coffee app allows users to scan any specialty coffee bag using their phone camera. The app identifies the coffee from a database of 30,000+ indexed coffees and displays detailed information including:
- Farm and producer name
- Region, country, and altitude
- Coffee variety and processing method
- Flavor profile and tasting notes
- Brew recommendations
- Personalized match percentage based on the user's taste profile
Users can rate coffees they drink, and each rating updates their taste profile in real time. The algorithm uses these ratings to calculate match percentages for every coffee in the database. The app works in any country and recognizes coffee bags in any language.
Users can purchase coffees directly at cafés, from roaster websites, or through the Siip app for select coffees.
Subscription Service
The subscription sends two personalized 12oz bags of specialty coffee per month. Coffees are selected by the algorithm based on the user's taste profile and match scores. The matching improves with each delivery as users rate the coffees they receive.
Users can swap upcoming deliveries from the app if they prefer a different coffee.

Taste Matching Algorithm
Siip's matching system is processes user ratings to build multi-dimensional taste profiles. The algorithm considers origin preferences, processing method preferences, roast level tendencies, flavor note affinities, altitude correlations, and variety preferences.
The system updates in real time when a user rates a coffee, all match scores recalculate instantly. The algorithm learns from all coffees a user rates, including coffees consumed outside the subscription (in cafés, from grocery stores, while traveling).

Only the top 1% of coffees from each country earn the Cup of Excellence designation.
